A bridge connects two banks that would otherwise stay separated by the water. Crossing it slowly lets you hear the sound of the river below, different depending on whether there are stones, a gentle current, or a fish jumping near the edge. Some bridges are made of wood and creak a little underfoot, while others are stone and feel cool under your hand when you lean on the railing.
