Climbing roses do not grow straight up on a single stem: they wind around a trellis, a fence, or the edge of a wall, sending out new branches to the sides as they go. That tangle means the drawing carries several flowers at different heights instead of one alone in the center, so it helps to decide up front which ones get more color and which stay more in the background. An easy way to guide the eye is to work from bottom to top, following the main branch like a path and adding the flowers that appear along the sides as you climb.
