Before the sun comes up, the sounds of the farm are already there: a rooster crowing, hens shuffling around the henhouse, and a dog barking somewhere in the distance. Through the day there are tasks that repeat: feeding the animals, gathering eggs still warm, filling the water troughs, and checking that the pen gates are shut tight. The cows walk slowly toward the barn when it is time for milking, while the pigs roll in the mud to cool off.
