In the jungle, the sky is almost never visible directly, because the leaves overlap one another and filter the light into patches that shift with the wind. The air tends to feel humid and heavy, and after rain the large leaves keep dripping for quite a while. Sounds come from every direction without you seeing what makes them: a distant screech, the flutter of something changing branches, the steady buzz of insects among the plants. Among the roots and low plants there are usually mushrooms, moss, and small puddles reflecting the little light that gets through. While coloring this page, try many different shades of green for the leaves, and add a bright color for flowers hidden among the plants.
