At dawn, the surface of the lake is often so still that it reflects the sky almost like a mirror, until a fish jumps and breaks that calm for a moment. Around it, ducks swim in a line near the shore, and the plants growing in the mud offer a hiding spot for frogs and insects. A wooden dock stretches out a little into the water, and it's common to see someone there with a fishing rod, waiting without hurry. When the wind blows, it forms small ripples that spread out toward the edges, while nearby trees drop their leaves if it's that time of year.
