Puffed up into a spiky little ball, this pufferfish is showing off its best trick: when something scary comes near, it gulps down water and swells up like a balloon, turning its smooth body into a round, prickly mouthful no predator wants to bite. Most of the time it swims along slim and ordinary, only blowing up when it feels in danger. Pufferfish also have surprisingly strong, beak-like teeth that never stop growing, perfect for crunching on hard shells and coral. Color the rounded body a sandy yellow or a soft tan, give the belly a paler cream, and tip each little spine with a darker shade so they stand out. Add two big, friendly dark eyes, then picture warm reef water all around, dotted with coral where it likes to hunt for snacks.
