Color Mixing: The Color Lab for Little Scientists
Mixing colors is one of the first discovery experiences for children. In this free online game, kids drag paint tubes into a flask and watch a new color appear in real time: red and yellow make orange, yellow and blue make green, red and blue make violet. A visual, intuitive and magical way to understand color theory.
The game has two modes. In Learn, kids see animated examples of each mix and its result. In Play, they get a target color and have to make it by combining the right tubes. Seven colors to discover: orange, green, violet, pink, light blue, gray and brown.
What do children learn by mixing colors?
- Basic color theory: the 3 primary colors (red, yellow and blue) and the secondary colors that appear when you mix them
- Cause and effect as kids drag each tube into the flask and watch the new color appear in real time
- Recognizing and naming the 7 colors you can create: orange, green, purple, pink, light blue, gray and brown
- Visual focus and memory while remembering which combination of the 5 base tubes makes each color
- Creativity and open-ended experimentation by mixing the tubes in both Learn mode and Play mode
Color mixing is perfect for preschool and early primary school, both at home and in the classroom. No sign-up, no ads, available in four languages and designed for the little ones.
