A starfish moves so slowly that you can barely notice it, dragging along many tiny tube feet under each arm that help it creep over rocks and sand. It clings tightly to the stones when the tide goes out, holding on so the retreating water cannot carry it away. It prefers to tuck itself between rocks when the light is strong and comes out to explore once the water grows calmer and the tide rises again. Its texture feels like rough leather, covered in small bumps spread across the whole surface, and its arms bend slightly whenever they meet a rock with an uneven shape.
