Mid-jump, the unicorn stretches its front legs forward and tucks its back legs slightly, as if the air were holding it up for a moment. Its mane flies backward and its tail spreads out with the motion, marking the direction of the leap. Before jumping it often takes a short, quick run-up, and right before leaving the ground it lowers its head a bit to gather momentum with its whole body. When it lands, it bends its knees to soften the landing and quickly moves on, ready for the next jump. It likes to jump near small puddles or over fallen logs, as if any obstacle were an excuse to be in the air again.
