A short jump right before the ball reaches the net, arms stretched upward and hands open waiting for that exact point of contact. On the other side of the court, someone dives to the floor with arms out front to dig up a ball that looked impossible to reach. There's the sharp smack of a palm against leather, sneakers squeaking as they brake, short shouts calling out who's going to spike. Before each serve there's a moment of stillness: the ball bounces once or twice against the floor while the eyes scan the other side of the net. You can pick bold colors for each team's shirts and a solid tone for the court floor. After a point is won, the group huddles for a second and quickly resets into position for the next serve.
