A jellyfish drifts with the current almost all the time, opening and closing its bell-shaped body to push itself forward very slowly. Its long tentacles trail behind like loose ribbons, swaying with every shift of the water without it seeming to make any effort at all. It prefers calm areas and often rises closer to the surface when the light is low, drifting back down toward deeper water when the sun is strong. It is nearly see-through, so it sometimes seems to vanish among the waves and only shows up by the outline it traces as it moves. When it brushes against something with its tentacles, it drifts slowly off in another direction, as if it would rather avoid the contact.
