When a watermelon is cut, the slice ends up flat on one side and curved on the other, following the round shape of the whole fruit. Holding it, you feel the weight right before it starts to slip, so it helps to support it from underneath with your whole hand. Biting into it usually leaves a trail of juice running down your fingers, and you need to wipe it off quickly before it drips further. Leaving the slice in the sun for a while makes it a bit warmer and softer to the touch. In this picture you can give the rind one color and the seeds a very different one, so the parts stand out from each other. Try shading the curved edge in a separate tone too.
