With legs still long and out of proportion, a baby giraffe walks a bit wobbly beside her mother, working to find her balance with every step. She stretches her neck upward to reach the tenderest leaves on the low branches, and when she can't quite reach, she rises up on her back legs. She likes staying very close to her mother, almost pressed against her legs, and only wanders off a little when something interesting catches her eye. When she runs, she moves her legs in an odd way, as if she hasn't quite figured out how to coordinate them, and sometimes stops suddenly for no clear reason.
