The fox cub sleeps curled into a tight ball, its tail draped over its nose and its ears drooping to the sides. It breathes slowly, and every so often twitches a paw as if dreaming about something that makes it run. It rests among some thick roots that shelter it from the wind, in a corner where little light reaches. When a nearby sound reaches it, one ear flicks slightly without it fully waking, and it quickly sinks back into sleep. Its fur rises and falls gently with each breath.
